Geophysical Studies ...
GeoScience Associates since its inception has carried out vertical electrical sounding for more then 1500 water supply schemes in different parts of the country and internationally. We have achieved “state of art” in the technique of investigations/interpretations, which specially have proved to be very reliable and cost effective in making decision like:
-
Selection
of a (drilling) site for exploitation of potable groundwater
-
Determination
of target (feasible) drilling depth of well.
-
dentification
of the extent of aquifer in the area.

Seismic
Refraction Survey:
The main objective of this type of survey is to ascertain the thickness and the type of overburden material, depth to bedrock profile, thickness of weathered rock and characterization of the rock mass. The method consists of measuring the travel time of longitudinal waves generated by an impulsive energy source. Numerous explosive and mechanical energy sources are available for use as energy source. Such sources are selected by considering various factors like site conditions, subsurface geology and estimated depth of investigation.
In 2008 GSA acquired the all new combined instrument 16SG24-N (24 channels seismograph + electrical imaging system 32 electrodes). The design philosophy was characterized by the need to create a system which would not only guarantee important performances and make it easy to use, but which would really be a multipurpose instrument.

The possibility to manage the two different investigation methods –
refraction/reflection seismics as well as electrical imaging – through a high-level software and a hardware characterized by extraordinary performance features, has allowed the realization of a combined modular instrument, which may grow in successive steps, finally offering the opportunity to complete our system base as to our real needs.

BOREHOLE
GEOPHYSICAL LOGGING
In the pursuit of excellence and quality investigations, GSA is
well equipped with the latest version of Geophysical Logging
Units. Our operations include (cased & uncased holes)
logging for gamma-gamma rays, gamma rays, resistively,
self-potential, caliper, flow meter & Video photography. We
have developed an effective interpretation technique of
geophysical logs
from bore holes/wells and provide an accurate evaluation of the
subsurface lithology and water quality of the investigated sites.
